codon bias in
organ development

The genetic code is redundant, with multiple codons encoding the same amino acid. Yet, it's increasingly appreciated that changes in codon usage regulate diverse biology. The molecular regulation of codon-dependent gene expression has remained largely un-explored. As part of a collaboration with Chris Counter's lab, we are uncovering how poor translation of the KRAS oncogene is overcome in cancer, and identifying how codon usage impacts tissue development.
